DAI Environmental Design Special Interest Group (ED-SiG)

A global voice for dementia enabling design in the community

Our Mission

We promote person-centred design that upholds the dignity, autonomy, and quality of life for people living with dementia. By fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and sharing our expertise in the principles of good design, we support the development of environmentally and economically sustainable solutions that improve natural, built, rehabilitative, and communal environments for people living with dementia.

The environment is more than the built environment; it includes all the surrounding things and entities that have direct impact on lives.

The ED-SiG Vision

Our impact will be seen in a world where dementia-related design is grounded in inclusive principles, supported by global collaboration, and recognized as essential to human rights. In this world, environments will empower people with dementia to live independently and meaningfully.
