DAI Environmental Design Special Interest Group #EDSiG is launching a webinar series titled EDSiG Dementia-Inclusive Environments: Global Insights.
This has been more than half a year of planning and coordinating to get this webinar series ready. The aim is to raise awareness and share global knowledge and skills in designing an inclusive environment for people living with cognitive decline and dementia.
The first webinar episode is on Wednesday, 4 March 2026, and will be delivered by Professor Richard Fleming, a psychologist and environmental design expert with more than 35 years of experience.
Richard will explain how the places we live in, visit, and use every day can support people living with dementia, and demonstrate how creating supportive environments aligns with the Dignity Manifesto’s principles of respect, choice, and treating people as a person first. The presentation is about the importance of being listened to, staying connected to family and community, and living in places that feel safe, familiar, and comfortable. These elements are central to good dementia design because they help individuals living with dementia maintain independence and a sense of belonging.
This webinar is for people who want to understand these ideas, reflect on their experiences, and feel confident that their voice and their dignity matter. Attendees will leave with practical strategies for creating supportive environments and advocating for dignity in everyday interactions with people living with dementia.
Let’s build a dementia-inclusive and age-friendly environment and make dementia design part of every discussion and decision-making.
Remember to mark your calendar for Wednesday, 4 March 2026.
